Countdown begins for PSLV-C43/HysIS mission tomorrow


Chennai, Nov 28 (UNI) The 28-hour countdown for the launch of advanced earth observation Hyper Spectral Imaging Satellite (HYsIS) and 30 co-passenger satellites from eight countries, using the workhorse launch vehicle PSLV-C43 began at the Spaceport of Sriharikota at 0558 hrs on Wednesday morning.

ISRO sources said after the Launch Authorisation Board (LAB) cleared the mission, the countdown for the lift off of PSLV-C43 from the First Launch Pad at 0958 hrs tomorrow commenced at the SHAR Range.

During the countdown, propellant filling operations would  be carried out in the four-stage vehicle, which uses solid and liquid propellants.

The flight duration would last about 113 minutes during which the 380 kg HysIS and the co-passenger satellites would be placed in two different orbits after restarting the rocket’s fourth stage engine twice, making it the third longest mission for ISRO.

About 17 minutes after lift off, the PSLV Core Alone variant, in its 13th Mission, would first release HysIS in a 636 km Polar  Sun Synchronous Orbit with an inclination of 97.
